Science Fair

I have watched my nieces a lot this year. On the days that they do not have dance right after school, they come over to Pam's and my house. I love helping them with their school work and projects. Every year their school holds a Science Fair in April. It is always the week of Earth Day. They have worm races. This year the 5th grade built rockets and launched them at a local park.

 Caeli completed a extensive project on Gravity. She was required to turn in a detailed science notebook, present her experiment and do a board for the science fair.

The 1st grade teachers let the students do anything that they want. The only requirement is that they follow the scientific method. Kianna chose to do an experiment to see if flowers and plants need water. She was upset that she "killed" a flower by not giving it enough water. The other carnation got lots of water with food coloring. She was able to show how the water traveled up the stem to the edges of the petals.

I love helping them with school work and watching the learn.

Count Down Dance Competition

Friday afternoon we picked Caeli and Kianna up early from school. We headed to Apache Junction and the final dance competition of the year. We checked into our hotel room and the girls started to get ready. Kianna's group had an early check-in and Caeli helped her with her make-up.

 As soon as they were done we stopped to get some lunch and then headed to the high school.

 Kianna was excited to see all her friends.

They performed their number (Love Bug earned a Gold) and then the kids hung around waiting for awards.

It was so much fun to see Kianna hang with all her friends. Mariah's Encore group perfromed and all the little kids were screaming and jumping up and down watching them.

My favorite dance is Jars of Hearts.

Her Hip-hop number is fast and strong. In the middle Mariah does an ariel over another dancer.

I love to watch Intergalatic!

ET is an entertaining Jazz dance.

Her last dance was Bad Thing.

The judges score Platinum, High Gold, Gold, High Silver and Silver. The studio is thrilled with Gold for the Mini level and hope for High Gold from the other levels.

The girls were thrilled when they received PLATINUM for all four of their dances. We went back to our hotel at 10:30. We were all hungry and brought in pizza. Then the girls quickly got ready for bed.

All to soon it was morning and we had to be up early. Caeli had to check in early. Caeli's group dances went well and both earned a High Gold.

Caeli's Trio was next and was fantastic.

The dance also received a High Gold.

It was a beautiful day. Pam and Lori got Subway sandwiches and we ate on picnic table. Then Caeli and Mariah had to get ready for solos.

Caeli looked so beautiful and did an amazing performance.

She earned a High Gold!.

Mariah looked so great in Runaway Baby. It was the best that she has ever danced.

The judges also thought that she danced beautifully and she earned a 5th Platinum!

Jenni and Jessica did the cheography and were so proud of Mariah.
